Chargé d’Affaires Bradley Freden visits Tacuarembó

On May 6, 2016 U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Uruguay Bradley Freden visited the city of Tacuarembó in north Uruguay, where he was met by Intendente Eber da Rosa.

Following their official meeting, Freden and da Rosa held a press conference with local media and exchanged gifts.

Weyerhaeuser’s Director for Latin America, Álvaro Molinari, and other members of this company also participated in the meeting. After the meeting at the Intendencia, Freden toured Weyerhaeuser’s plant and was briefed about their operation in Uruguay.

Freden also visited the Alianza Binational Center where he talked with its Director David Fontes and some students.

Finally, Freden visited the Ronald McDonald House Charities that operates in the Tacuarembó Hospital. Freden was briefed by the Hospital Director, Ciro Ferreira.

This renewable forest-product company built a 100 percent clean-energy facility capable of supplying electricity to 40,000 residents, launched a project certified to remove an average of 56,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year, and has been recognized as a “Project of National Interest” by the government of Uruguay.
