On Thursday, April 23, the Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires Bradley Freden led Embassy volunteers in picking up trash in the neighborhood around the Embassy in honor of Earth Day.
Equipped with latex gloves, trash bags and ropes, all the volunteers were divided into three groups to cover a wider area. The three teams went outside and started picking up trash from local sidewalks, parks and streets.
As they covered the pre-defined area, all the volunteers agreed that this was a great opportunity to do something meaningful in the community, and shared their ideas on how they could create even more awareness on the importance of respecting the Earth and the Environment.
The activity was organized by the Embassy’s Green Team in order to celebrate Earth Day (which is observed each April 22) and this year’s Earth Day theme: “It’s Our Turn to Lead!”.
