Public Diplomacy Section

The Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) at the U.S. Embassy in Montevideo engages with multiple audiences in Uruguay seeking to promote U.S. and Uruguayan shared priorities. Through a mix of communications, partnerships, and programs, the PDS prioritizes economic prosperity, citizen security, democracy, human rights, diversity and inclusion, and arts and culture.

Public Engagement

We support a variety of programs that promote mutual collaboration, encourage cross-cultural understanding, and foster new partnerships and fruitful connections by connecting Americans and Uruguayans. We convene, generate, and activate alumni networks to help keep conversations going.

Through a powerful and innovative catalogue of exchange programs and tools, we offer Uruguayan students opportunities that will better prepare them to lead teams and communities in the future.

We support and inspire those who inspire others. We offer professional and cultural exchanges in the United States with counterparts and colleagues from around the world through a variety of programs including through Fulbright opportunities.

PROGRAMS FOR PROFESSIONALS

Scholarships and exchange programs provide professionals with transformational opportunities including Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarships and the Fulbright Hubert H. Humphrey Scholarship for Professional Development.

PROGRAMS FOR ENTREPRENEURS

We encourage Uruguayan entrepreneurs to dream big, to take risks, and to become leaders that inspire others. Our programs for entrepreneurs help Uruguayans from across the country take their innovative ideas and projects to the next level.

Grants

UNITED STATES EMBASSY FUND

Approximately US $500,000 is available for allocation among eligible proposals, with a maximum of US $25,000 per project. Projects should be focused on strengthening the following priorities: Uruguay´s economy, Democracy, or Local, regional, and global security.
