Re-Enactment of Rosa Parks Montgomery Bus Boycott

U.S. Embassy Montevideo’s Public Affairs personnel boarded several buses on one of the main streets of Montevideo and performed re-enactments of the Rosa Parks Montgomery Bus Boycott.

A member of the Public Affairs team played Rosa Parks and another embassy staff member played the role of the white racist man. A Public Affairs intern gave out handouts with information on the Rosa Parks incident and the Celebration of February as the Black History Month.

Reactions ranged from shock to outrage at the incident. Public Affairs Section recorded the presentation and sent the footage to the media with a press release, as well as used social media to amplify the message.

During the month of February, Embassy Montevideo conducted a range of activities to highlight black Americans and their history in conjunction with Black History Month.
