An appointment is mandatory for all non-emergency citizen services (passports, reports of birth abroad, notary services, etc.), except Federal Benefits.
If you have misplaced your confirmation page, please contact us at MontevideoACS@state.gov to reschedule your appointment.
Important:
You must bring these checklists with you to your appointment if you are applying for a U.S. Passport (PDF 320 KB) or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (PDF 316 KB).
Federal Benefits Beneficiaries
Federal Benefits beneficiaries (e.g. Social Security) may come in on Mondays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. without an appointment, except on Uruguayan and U.S. public holidays.
Apostille
We do not apostille documents. For instructions on how to authenticate/apostille a U.S. public document for use in Uruguay, please see the website of the U.S. entity that issued the document. A list of these entities can be found here.
You can also visit the Authentications and Apostilles page on the Department of State Website.
For instructions on how to authenticate/apostille a Uruguayan public document for use in the United States, please contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2902-1010) – Section: “Centro de Atención Ciudadana”.
